“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NLT
My first semester of college turned out dismal. Let’s just say, I played a little more than I studied. My grades weren’t pretty. It was an eye opening experience to say the least.
I went to CMSU, Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. I went there because most of my friends from highschool did and the college didn’t care about my ACT scores! Ha!
After that first semester, I moved back home, attended a JUCO to “get my grades up” and did well enough to get into UMKC.
While going to UMKC I landed a part-time job at UPS. It was a great job, it provided benefits and worked well with my rigorous college class schedule.
At UPS I met two guys, Greg and Joe. They were believers in Christ, and at that time in my life, remember Whitney Watson? Well, let’s just say, Whitney would not have been proud of the way I was living my life.
After attending the Christian Camp in Kansas, I never found a good church to help me grow in my faith and I fell away from all I had learned at camp as a 13 year old.
Greg and Joe took a liking to me and simply built a friendship with me.
We would kid around and had a blast working together at UPS.
Greg, he was an interesting guy. He literally looked just like Jesus! He had shoulder length long hair and a beard! Couldn’t believe he never wore a robe to work, because nobody would have thought anything of it. But Greg was a Christian, and so was Joe. And God laid me on their hearts to befriend.
It wasn’t long till Greg and Joe invited me out for lunch. It was then that our friendship deepened and they eventually invited me to their Bible study.
Once I attended their small fellowship of believers, all the seeds planted at that Christian camp fully germinated and I rededicated my life to Christ!
What strikes me most about this story, is Gods unrelenting pursuit of us, even in the workplace! God had a plan for me. And He never gave up on me.
I was 19 years old when I started at UPS and I have never looked back at my old life.
I’m so thankful for Greg and Joe and how God used those two simple godly men to again, simply build a friendship with me and invited me back to walking with God.
Is there somebody in your life that God is nudging you to invite to church? I hope and pray that you quiet yourself, listen to Jesus’ nudging. Build a friendship with them. And invite that person into your world. I promise they, and you won’t regret it! Because, who knows, who you invite, could just very well be the next Billy Graham, and Gods needs you to partner with Him, to do His work of evangelism.
I am so thankful Greg and Joe took the time to build a relationship with me and pointed me back to God! So thankful!
Matt
Thanks Matt!
What a great message demonstrating how God will use each one of to bring others to Christ.
